This small, decorative map shows the South coast of India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The islands are depicted remarkably accurately, and all of them are named. Two mermaids appear amid waves on the lower border, holding between them a banner identifying it as a map of the Maldives. A line representing the equator runs through the lower part of the map, and the longitude and latitude are expressed in the borders. The text is in French, revealing the map's origins: it is fo...
