Important locations such as schools, former addresses, and birthplaces are picked out for each singer. Sites include Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane, the inspiration behind two hit singles, as well as the famous 'Cavern Club' on Mathew street. This pub marked the first performance of John Lenon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison in 1961. They fast became Cavern Club's signature act.

Local businessman Brian Epstein attended a lunchtime gig and offered to become their manager. Ringo Starr joined on the drums in 1962, and shortly afterwards The Beatles made their first televised appearance. In total, the Beatles performed at the Cavern Club 292 times.

The artwork is true to the psychedelic pop art by Heinz Edelmann used in the 1968 film 'The Yellow Submarine'. The four singers are depicted within a cartouche heart, complete with exaggerated afros, flared trousers, and snazzy ties. Near the hospitals where each star was born, flying stalks transport babies flaunting guitars. A green submarine trundles along the River Mersey.

One of the first Beatles maps to be produced, the poster was designed by the city of Liverpool to entice tourists, and thereby stimulate the declining economy of the city. The famous band had split four years prior.
