The map is undated and unsigned, but can be attributed to Lafreri because of the likely date of publication and the style. The geography follows the map of Cyprus published by Bartolomeo Faletti in Rome in 1560. Lafreri added the title cartouche surmounted by the winged lion of St Mark. The course of the Pediaus River is taken from a 1562 manuscript map by Georgio Sideri. Nicosia is still shown as surrounded by the walls built by the Francs, which were destroyed in 1567. As...
