Arabic and smaller-format edition of a landmark in the cartography of the UAE, the most detailed map of the region, first published in 1973, just two years after the formal establishment of the UAE, on December 2, 1971.
The map illustrates, in the year before the Treaty of Jeddah (1974), the undefined borders between the UAE and Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia and the UAE and Oman, all of which would go on to be contested.
