Rare chart of the North American east coast, with large inset maps of Florida, New York Harbour, Charleston, and Delaware Bay.

Stretching from Georgia in the south to Nova Scotia in the north. Lighthouses are picked out in yellow, with a concentrated cluster around New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. A list of named beacons is provided, along with elevation above sea level and whether they are 'fixed or floating' lights. A key denotes sand, coral, mud, and "very grey" areas. Topographical details such as trees, cultivated fields, clustered outbuildings, and even dockyards are rendered to a fine degree.

This chart was likely used for contemporary surveying, as pencilled annotations of corrected and added soundings can be seen particularly around New York and rhumb lines in the north-west. Not only is Bermuda included, but "false Bermuda" is indicated with a small cross.

Aimé Robiquet was a French hydrographer operating in the mid-nineteenth century. His elephant folio 'Atlas Hydrographique' (1851) contained 44 charts of an unusually high quality. His separately published coastal charts are rare on the market.
