Embelished with 38 inset maps and views of the Mediterranean’s major ports, this early edition of a circa-1694 maritime chart by Romeyn De Hooghe almost guarantees conversation. Who hasn’t been at least somewhere recognizable on one or more of its three hand-coloured, engraved sheets, joined for a total width of 57 inches and a height of 24 inches? Its dealer, Daniel Crouch, can show this treasure at his homeport of London,or June 6 to 7 at the London Map Fair, Europe’s largest antique map market.

Esta gran feria del arte y las antigüedades, la más importante del mundo, contará con la presencia de más de 270 galerías procedentes de una veintena de países. Cinco de ellas son españolas: Deborah Elvira, Artur Ramon Art, Galería Caylus, Galería López de Aragón y Coll&Cortés Ltd. Una sexta, Elba Benítez, asistirá como invitada a la nueva sección Night Fishing, comisariada por Sydney Picasso y dedicada a la escultura postmoderna.

La XXVIII edición de la feria de arte más importante del mundo, TEFAF Maastricht, se celebrará del 13 al 22 de marzo de 2015 con la presencia de 274 galerías de 22 de países. IN 2012, Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover, the founders of Frieze—the colourful, sometimes raucous art fair in Regent’s Park, London—launched a new, overlapping event nearby. Frieze Masters, they hoped, would demonstrate the ways in which old art influences what is being made now. In this context, “old”, like historic or traditional, is relative: 1999 is the fair’s cut-off point.

There’s been a glut of map-related exhibitions in London recently, but this small free exhibition at the Oxo Tower makes a fine diversion. Tightly curated, it offers a sort of ‘greatest hits’ of London cartography, showcasing the chart-toppers from John Rocque and Harry Beck to Stephen Walter.
