T&Cs

Terms and Conditions

All items are offered subject to prior sale.
Price and availability are subject to change.
All prices are nett and do not include postage and packing.
Invoices will be rendered in £ sterling.

All purchases must be paid for in full unless you have an approved credit account. Credit terms are settlement within 30 days of the date of invoice, unless specifically agreed otherwise at the time of the sale. The title of goods does not pass to the purchaser until the invoice is paid in full.

Authenticity & descriptions

The condition of all books has been described; all items are guaranteed to be complete unless otherwise stated. We only sell genuine antiquarian books, maps, and prints. All items carry a full guarantee as to their authenticity. A certificate to this effect can be provided on request. Dimensions are given height by width of the book-block for books, and platemark, or, if this is not possible, printed image, for maps and prints. Where indicated, original or contemporary colouring (i.e. colouring applied to the print or map at or about the time of publication) will be so described. All other colouring will be colouring that, in our opinion, has been added at a later date. All items can be assumed to be in good condition, unless stated otherwise.

Availability

As our stock is always changing, items in the catalogues may have already been sold; if something you want doesn’t appear on the search page, then this is probably the case.

Returns policy

Any item may be returned if you are not happy with it providing we are notified within 7 days of your receiving it. This does not affect any statutory rights you may have under UK or EU law for returning the item outside this period. All we ask is that you return the item(s) by the same or similar method to that in which they were sent to you. Your postage costs and any payment already received will be refunded immediately on our receipt of the items in the same condition as you received them.

Shipping

Postage or shipping will be at the customer’s expense and the customer will be notified of the exact amount. UK deliveries will normally be sent by “Next Day Delivery” service. Overseas shipments will be sent by courier with an on-line trackable facility. Unless otherwise instructed, all shipments will be insured in transit at our expense.

Sales Tax (VAT/TVA) and other tax information

The following is intended to give general guidance to buyers on the VAT and certain other potential tax implications by purchasing from our website. The information concerns the most usual circumstances and is not intended to be comprehensive. In all cases, the relevant tax legislation takes precedence and the VAT rates in effect on the day of invoice will be the rates charged. Books and maps are zero-rated for VAT purposes. Items exported outside the UK are usually exempt from VAT. Unless specified otherwise, prints, photographs and manuscripts are sold through the Margin Scheme for customers resident within the UK and so input tax may not be reclaimed. Other services and items sold to clients within the UK will normally be subject to standard rate VAT. Any additional import charges or taxes incurred locally within the country of the purchaser are the exclusive responsibility of the purchaser and not of the seller.

Export Licences

For manuscript and very high-value individual items current UK Export licensing regulations apply.
