Notes
An important set of plans by Thomas Milton (1743-1827), surveyor, draughtsman and engraver, a pupil of Woollett. He worked in Dublin and London and was governor of the Society of Engravers. The draughtsmanship of the shipping is attributed to John Cleveley, father of the marine artist of the same name, on Sheerness, Chatham and Plymouth. All six are rarely offered as a complete set as here. The BL Map Library lists only four plans separately in their online catalogue.
