Notes
A fine and detailed plan of Venice, based on Ludovico Ughi's monumental 12-sheet map of Venice published in 1729, as stated in the title. This reduced version, with the added panorama was published in the "Stadt - atlas, oder: Schauplatz beruhmter Stadte, Verstumgen, Prospekte, Gegenden, Grundrisse, Belangerungen, etc: Welche by denen Hommaniscen Erben", Nuremberg, 1762.
Despite its smaller format the Homann plan of Venice is still remarkably detailed, showing all the canals, buildings and even gardens, with an extensive key lower right, the title within a rococo cartouche upper right. Beneath and taking the length of the mapsheet is a view of Venice from the water, "Prospetto de Venetia", centred on the Campanile and Piazza San Marco.
