笔记
The map details Singapore’s downtown business district from Mount Victoria to the mouth of the Rochor River. The inset maps in the lower right quadrant details the harbour region to the west of Keppel Road as far as Clementi.
A significant number of buildings and homes are identified throughout the map, particularly in affluent areas such as Mount Victoria and Goodwood Hill where individual homes are noted in details. All public parks, streets, cemeteries, municipal buildings, docks, cinemas, rail stations and social clubs are all marked on the map.
Federate Malay State (1922-1945), better known as the F.M.S. Survey Department, was established in the early 20th century to produce detailed surveys of British Malaya and the Straits Settlements. The survey department had offices in most major Malayan ports, including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang (Georgetown), and Malacca. The F.M.S. was the first official survey organisation to publish detailed scientifically produced maps of the region.
Rare. OCLC records two institutional copies: Cornell University and National Library of Singapore.
