Further description in lower central panel reads: "This map is divided into 18 compartments, the red letters serve as an index to the letter press book, which book may be had together or separate forming a Complete Directory down to the present time giving a correct list of all the Streets Squares Lanes Courts and Alleys with a small descriptive account of all the principal Public Buildings in London as this Map is engraved from a personal Survey to the present time, the whole being upon a New plan the Publishers flatter themselves they will be found usefull in the Counting House as well as to Strangers."
This attractive map includes twenty-four views of London buildings within the top and bottom borders. The map shows the land east of London Docks cleared ready for further expansion and the lands north and west of Tavistock Square ready for development.
Originally published in 1812 under the imprint of Edward Langley and William Belch, who appear to have traded under separate names from 1820 onwards, but still gave a joint dividend in 1824.
Scale: 3 3/4 inches to 1 statute mile.
